For those of us new to the boards who are attending the Summit for the first time, can the veterans shed some light on the best way to match those we've met on ABestWeb with their faces?

I don't suppose any of you will be wearing ABestWeb t-shirts with your screen name on them.

Fortunately, I 'm easy to spot, as I look just like my avatar

It's not just the avatars, it's the names. Sometimes we get to use our ABW names on our nametags, but mosts times it's our legal names displaying on the name tags.

But it's real fun - and exciting - discovering the avatars you know and matching them up with their human counterparts.

I'll relate 2 stories, both of which I've posted before.

I was talking to Connie (Flamingoworld) in a bar in a casino, and some scraggy biker dude in leather walked by. By the time he got to the other side of the casino, she said that was Todd Crawford (formerly of CJ). I literrally ran after him, awaking the casino security staff

Was chatting with Michael Coley (who really does look like his avatar!), and he introduced me to this kid who looked like a high school student who probably hacks the phone company for fun. Said he was Scott I-wont-say-his-real-last-name-here.

I chatted politely. Then MC leaned over and said he was Snib from ABW! SNIB!!!! I almost jumped onto him - lol.

Anyway, within 2 hours, you'll find someone who knows everyone (like Loxly), and she can tell you who is who.

Last July was my first Affiliate Summit and finding people whom I interacted with online, was just as Billy Kay stated. By the second day you will know your way around the myriad faces. Just walk up to a group and introduce yourself. The vast majority of people in this business are friendly.

BTW - You may be able to recognize me from my avatar - that's me sitting under the beach umbrella. If not, look for an old f*rt with shaggy white hair that used to be in a ponytail.

We should all have big ABW buttons with our ABW names and avatars.

Otherwise, as Billy K said: find Lox - she'll introduce you to everyone.

Another tip...

Just like in the real world, we tend to hang out with the people we feel comfortable and close with

So if you see a group of 6 people, and you already know 2, (let's say it's me and Debbie), then you can assume you know the other 4 in the group, 'cause it will probably be Rexanne, Carolyn Tang, Judi Moore, Donuts, NYFalcon, etc. So say hello!!!

Now if you see a group of casually dressed affiliates, and they scatter real quick 'cause someone showed up in a suit and tie - go say hi to him. it's Ron-7Days.

I really appreciate all the tips.

I'll probably be fairly recognizable too, since I'll be the one having to buy drinks for all the people who have helped me out on here.

Just spoke with Debbie - she hasn't been online all day - Brooklyn's internet is down. She's gonna take a train to Manhattan just to get internet access.

Wait 'till she finds out everyone at summit will be tailing her - LOLOLOL

Maybe Shawn can auction off a logo on the back of her shirt

Oh, boy, I'm not sure if this if funny or not. Okay, I guess it is, coming from Billy Kay.

Actually I've never worn a tie or suit at any affiliate event so I guess it is time for me to change my picture above as it is not representative of my current attire (or my hair color - Ha).

What I want to see is a picture of Billy Kay in a suit and tie...

As I mentioned before I look like my picture.... just add 5 years and 20-25 pounds. Yes, I'm a little chubby now. I'll be the one looking lost, and confused. :-)

Congrats on winning the contest, Lost. I'd imagine you'll probably want to buy a few rounds for everyone who read your essay.

Hmmm... I look like my avatar, except in color and about 20 lbs thinner. Maybe I'll take it down and put up a thinner me so you guys won't get confused! Very much looking forward to the mystery of discovering who everyone is. Too bad recruiting new affiliates means posting my contact info...

How can we spot you? Do you look like your Avatar? If so, you better wear an ABW shirt or blow a whistle or something

I think somebody should get Loxly one of those old-fashioned Kmart blue lights on a rolling stand. Then everyone can look for the blue light flashing!

There ya go. Avatar added. I've got longer, curlier hair now, but I'm still just as creepy looking as the pic suggests.

Yes but it's a free drink. That gives an extra $2.00 for the slots. If I do this every night I'm there look how much more gambling money I will have.

I look like my avatar, they usually put loxly on my name tag, I'll have ABW and Team Loxly buttons on, and will never be alone Don't be shy, bring me a grey goose and 7 and you can hang with me all night....

Yes you can call me Loxly, yes, you can interupt me, yes I will be mad if the following week you post "I was going to say hi but you were always busy". Yes I will always be talking to *someone*, and yes you can ask me to introduce you to________ (fill in the blank)

No I am not in charge of finding people rides or roomies this year, for that you are all on your own There are always cabs.... I am even parking the Firebird in Valet and plan to NOT drive....

See ya'll soon!
