mlb program

The good folks at mlb are not very forthcoming with the details, so can we ask here? Are they going to LS and is GSI taking over complete control of the program?

GSI already pretty much runs the nuts and bolts of the program, but mlbam (MLB Advanced Media) kept control of the storefront and affiliate matters... till now. They are closing on CJ within 30 days and relaunching "somewhere" this coming week. I believe they are tied into a long term deal with GSI through 2016 so going over to LS seems the obvious step.

But no official word yet.

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to give you the heads up that MLB just launched on LinkShare and will be managed by GSI. We are very excited to be managing this program and look forward to working with you!

If you need any help switching out your links or getting started in the new LinkShare program, please reach out to us.

best,

Allison

I've been an MLB affiliate for quite some time now and would like to know if I will be able to get feeds delivered to keep my sites up and running. I hardly use Linkshare for anything at all, so I'm not willing to pay a fee for the privilege of making money for them.

From 7/15/2008 to 8/15/2008 you will even get an increased commission of 10% to kick off this new affiliate program!
On CJ the commish was up to 12%, is that gone?

How many lawyers were consulted on that sentence?

How does this affect 6 years of a great relationship with Darnel and then a good relationship with Bryan? Are good vibes being carried over?

Hi Everyone,
I can answer your questions.
DavidH- the feeds are free for GSI programs in linkshare. You will automatically be approved for received the feed once you request it.

Tough Turkey- the new commission structure is 7%-10%. Thru 8/15 you can earn a flat 10% commission for migrating to the program in linkshare.

Please let me know if you need anything else and I look forward to working with you in linkshare!
Thanks!
Larissa

You forgot to mention what platform. I realize it's LS but it would be helpful info to put in the email.

"The MLB.com Shop program has officially relaunched on another platform. We are offering you a flat 10% commission (offer 10.1) until 8/15 for migrating with us. Also, you can cash in on promoting 10% off entire orders until 7/29. The program on CJ will be officially closed on 8/14. Be sure to migrate to the new program so you don’t miss out on any sales. We look forward to working with you again! Sincerely,

The MLB.com Shop Affiliate Team"

Hi Trust,
Sorry about that. We were not allowed to mention linkshare since the email went out thru CJ.

Thanks!

Ah, forgot about that. I remember people saying Linkshare does the same thing, would actually drop the merchant the next day if a merchant mentioned something like that. These networks sometimes, they should lighten up about that kind of thing.

So is mlb still active at CJ?

I ask because the date August 15 was given, however the links all still work.

MLB program on CJ

Hi Everyone,
The program on CJ was supposed to be turned off on 8/15, but it was not. The program on CJ will be officially closed on Wednesday 8/27. Sorry for the confusion. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

Can we have a public guarantee posted here that all outstanding payments including any bonuses due will be honoured at CJ?

Not a ridiculous question since July publisher payments at CJ were already skipped due to reasons unknown.

HI all,

I want to become an MLB affiliate, as I am doing great with TM and Stubhub (on MLB tickets specially) but I just failed to get any response from their email affiliates@mlb.com, is there anyone that can redirect me to someone, who can help me join mlb affiliate program through LinkShare, I already have an account LinkShare. Please let me know. Thanks a lot.

Good luck Lemley. GSI got their hands on the MLB program a couple of years ago; MLB doesn't have a real human affiliate manager any more.

Sign up as an affiliate of authorized licensed merchandise distributors (there are many, very many).

Most of the distributors offer lower prices on MLB-licensed products anyway. Lower price for same products makes it easier to generate sales with them than it would be by promoting MLB.com directly.
