I'm new to the coupon industry and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the average conversion rate is for actual coupon sites so I know what to strive for?

Hi Kimmy

Conversion depends on if the merchants can convert the customers you send them to buy.

Also, the quality of your site determinds whether the customers return to your site.

If your site sucks - you will have no customers.

If the merchant's site sucks you will have no sales.

So you see - there is no easy answer to your question.

The best "consistent" conversion we have seen from a coupon site that used totally ethical marketing was 20%. By consistent I'm meaning month on month, not day to day. The average we see is between 8 to 15%.

But as BurgerBoy said, a lot depends on your site, the merchants you work with. How fresh are your coupons, how unique, how big is your user base, does the merchant have good landing pages and so forth

Cheers

Chris

On a very low scale, you can see it at 5% min

The best "consistent" coupon affiliate conversion (also of an affiliate that is 100% ethical) has been more around 35%, and this was in a very competitive niche. The average - right around 5.5-6% in competitive niches, and 8-10% in less crowded ones.

The problem for ethical coupon sites is not click throughs or conversions, it is attaining adequate volumes of traffic to your site to convert.

Looking at last month my top couponer in CJ was at 9.6%
Looking at last month my top couponer in PFX was at 22.4%
Looking at last month my top couponer in LS was at 14.8%

These are different programs but I though it worth the exercise to see how they compared.

Chuck, is it the same couponer or 3 different couponers?

Thanks all! It seems it ranges from 5% to 20%. Hey Chuck, is your couponer in a niche or a general coupon site?

The three couponers mentioned are top of the game, high page ranked with multiple sites, newsletters, RSS, product displays, PPC.
