At 1:30 PM PST today (April 27), we should be able to hear the Revenue & Taxation Committee meeting/vote live on the Internet. I believe you'll find it here - http://192.234.214.75/asm-126

If not, the audio page for the Cal Assembly is here:

The audio feed never worked for me.

I read on Shaw Collin's blog that the committee postponed the hearing on the bill until next January.

I think that's relatively good news.

I'll take that as good news too. Not that I'm complaining, but any other word as they why they would postpone it so long?

A friend who's involved in state politics told me that a common reason for substantially postponing a hearing is that a bill doesn't have the votes to pass. Instead of watching a bill lose the vote and die, the sponsor of the bill (Nancy Skinner in this case) is offered the opportunity to postpone the vote and fight another day.

I don't know if this reasoning applies here. Hopefully.

So is this postponement confirmed? Any links? This does come as a (pleasant) surprise, so it'd be good to know that this storm really has passed ( a year is a long enough time, hopefully some court will knock these bills down in the meantime)

Here's a summary of what happened yesterday from someone that was in Sacramento to attend the hearing (Lisa Picarille) -

I hope no one was waiting with baited breath to watch the hearing yesterday... it was an hour late to start! We sat in long enough to hear that the bill had been removed from the calendar, officially confirming what we'd heard earlier in the day, sat in a little while longer to hear the second thing on the agenda, then bailed about 3pm.
