Dynamic Coupon Feed Suggestion

Instead of making the merchant name clickable only.

i prefer you make the coupon description plus the coupon code that is clickable.

This would show up better and less confusion to site visitors where to click on

Please implement this suggestion, thanks

It would be good if the coupons shown actually named the merchant too. A link that only shows "Free shipping on orders over $75" might cause some interest if people could see what merchant the offer applied to.

Turning on images for the coupon feed would probably resolve that issue, but then there are merchants who throw all their banners into the coupon feed and that really messes up the resulting page. If coupon feed images were all required to be one size only then it would answer both problems.

Could you go into a little more detail. I use their Dynamic Coupon/Deal Tools, but it's just pipe delimited data with no html. Where do you see something clickable. I may be missing something.

This thread slipped through the cracks a few weeks ago. Sorry about that.

Vrindavan, if you select RSS integration for the coupon feed you'll have the option of making the "coupon description plus the coupon code" the clickable html, instead of the merchant name.

The RSS integration option will also show the merchant's name.

We'll look at adding that to the other integration choices as well, but right now it's only available with RSS.

Yes! I updated an RSS integration last week and was able to show the merchant's name. So much better than two lines both saying "Free Shipping on all Orders over $99" without a clue who the merchant was. It may have been there for awhile, I don't frequently play with the integrations once they are set up. It just irked me every time I saw it.

@John-
The RSS integration isn't the same as the datafeed, it has links for people to subscribe via different RSS readers, but can also show a feed as a html page on your site for those who never subscribe to RSS feeds.

Update: Just heard from David Clark on this. For JavaScript/HTML coupon feeds, it's possible now to choose whether to link up the merchant name or the coupon text as the click-through (instead of always having the link be just the merchant name).

OKay thanks for pointing that out. I believe that's a Deal of the Day record configured as a coupon/deal offer. David just added logic to the coupon/deal feeds to handle those in a similar fashion to text coupons where applicable. Vrindavan, if you wait long enough for the cache to expire (approx. 2 hours), you should see the change without any effort on your part. Gary M
