I don't know how I feel about a widget that puts Stewart Copeland not in the top 5, especially when it puts him under Lars Ulrich. :-D

It's always a tough call. How can someone REALLY decide who #5 or #10? My #1 was very clear though.

I think you meant Wreath Toon

For non-music geeks that is Keith Moon of the Police, who falls somewhere in the top five! Legend!

Keep in mind, this is my list so my own musical tastes very much play a part in the selections.

Buddy Rich and Gene Krupa were amazing. Is Buddy Rich still alive?

I read up on them while doing some research for this.

My first thought when reading the title of this thread was... Buddy Rich!

Unfortunately, he's not still alive. He died in 1987.

Very strange list with no Buddy Rich or John Bonham.

Neal Peart might be a tad bit of a reach on a "best of all time" list, but most drummers would rank him miles higher than some of those listed.

Oh John Bonham is certainly not missing...he is in the top five as well

It would be impossible to leave him out of anyone's top 20, regardless of musical preferences.

I agree it's a bit skewed and I certainly wouldn't call it the same way, but in his defense, Matt did say it's HIS list, not THE list. For me, Mitch Mitchell would be higher, and Ringo would be gone, and I'd make a nice home for Dave Lombardo, Mike Bordin, and Dale Crover (Melvins, Altamont, Nirvana, etc.). But that's MY list.

Dave Grohl -- Nirvana
I'll have to disagree with you on this one. Why did he get a new drummer to play for Foo Fighters?

To play lead guitar and be lead vocals. Same as Aaron Gillespie, who is the drummer for Underoath and the lead guitarist and singer for The Almost.

IMHO, Grohl was a much better drummer than guitarist.

You should check out of the stuff he has done since starting The Foo Fighters. He still does a lot of studio drumming and has even done some stuff in concert. He has drummed with Queens of the Stone Age, Killing Joke, Nine Inch Nails, Neil Young, David Bowie, etc. His drumming skills are still in high demand (see the stuff he has done with Paul McCartney).

He even has some side projects where he is the drummer.

I think if he was still publicly drumming like he was with Nirvana, he would be even more popular as a drummer.
