I'm giving Authorize.net a hard look and would love to hear feedback. Seems the archives paint a favorable picture.

Also, does it matter which reseller I use from the list on Authorize.net's web site? I found that is waiving the set-up fee this month.

Finally, regarding the merchant account, I one post that says a credit check is run before the account is set-up. Is this true? I'm asking because I'm going to be housing hunting at the end of the summer and I'm trying to keep my credit score as high as possible.

I use authorize, and am very happy.

Yes, I'd say the reseller "matters" as they are your support and contact.

First, if you are going to be processing charges, time to incorporate. Then open two bank accounts, once to the transactions account which you move the charge money to and from, the other your regular business account. What happens if your site gets hacked, and all of the charge cards stolen and used? What happens if a credit card ring runs a fraud game on you? You need protection.

Then, authorize.net is great, I use them and my reseller is wells fargo and am 100% happy with them. Too many resellers are fly-by night spammers,scammers that add way too much to the costs with 0 support. WellsFargo has helped me the few times I needed help. Personally after having done it a few different ways, I would only purchase through a bank, no matter who is the backend.

Unless I'm mistaken, I think Wells Fargo works with Linkpoint now, at least here in NY they do.

Authorize.net is going for around 39.95-129.95 as a licensing fee.

A certain company on the internet is giving it away for free right now.

Authnet will then charge you 7 cents a transaction and then a monthly fee of I think 24.95...this is all in addition to what ever you are paying your merchant account provider.

After doing much research I found www.2checkout.com to be the way to go.

I don't use them yet, but all roads lead to going with them.

If you can prove otherwise, try 2CO first.

I think Authorize.net (with the right reseller) is better than 2CheckOut. Just my opinion, especially if you have other software (in my case membership program, shopping cart, accounting package, ...) processing credit cards.
