I thought this would be a good thread to place domains in for opinions/appraisals.

4hirejobs.com - great freelance/for hire domain!

interiorcontacts.com - originally, I was going to use this for a directory of interior designers/decorators.

fools4christ.com - I wanted to make this into a web directory of Christian drama teams, or a web site for Christian musicians/authors/writers.

freefootballs.com - I was going to try my hand at an incentive site where I would give away free footballs for sign-ups that produced leads. Every sign-up would have been the equivalent to getting your name entered into the weekly drawing. I would have tried to promote the new Spalding football for the XFL (xtreme football with wrestlers).

findsponsors4yourwebsite.com - I actually had this one up and going at one time. I wasn't patient enough to work with affiliate sign-ups. The name definitely speaks for itself.

nashvillecountrymusicstars.com & nashvillecountrymusicstar.com - these two domain names can be web sites linked together. One would be a web site about country music stars, the other a web community for people trying to make it in the country music business. You could actually use the web community idea to make people bio pages so they could get exposure.

These domain names would have great name recognition, and would be very marketable. make an offer!

BigChuck & Guffy,

Sorry, but I don't value those names at anything above to cost of registration.

Possibly lower than that, in fact.

Guffy,

bqik (be quick as I see it) = $2,500, but I doubt it because of the branding needed to make ppl think B and QIK! so realistically I'd say $1,750 max.

slarp has a great possible value the only deterring factor is the applicable market focus for branding ... but that can easily be overcome ... look at flooz  I'd conservatively call it at $7,500 (but not with current resale market) hold on to it, list it on Great Domains ... let it sit there till it happens!

Packy,

inkstores.com = $300

It is an alright name ... but doesn't say what kind of ink ... india? or inkjet refill? or ? ? ? as such, customer perception / understanding of site's product offerings is hampered. Lets compare it with "proinkjets.com" (CJ merchant) the name states "inkjets" but does it imply it being a resource for big companies? or that they are pros? or in favor of inkjets ... see what I mean about the consumer perception?

---------------
Drewbert,

Although some of the doms may not be the most desirous, they do have a value! Anything with some good marketing does significantly increase in value (ie Freefootballs.com could be a great superbowl giveaway promo / contest!

¿de acuerdo?

Haiko

Ha ha.

Sorry, but Haiko's valuations are WAY out of the ball park.

Practically every name I've seen mentioned in this thread is CRAP. Don't get all upset with me, just learn to face the truth, like THOUSANDS of other would-be domain millionaires have.

You guys have got it ALL WRONG. You're buying up all the trash names (possibly on credit card) that have been dumped previously, in the faint hope that someone out there is going to want them in a branding exercise.

You'd be better off saving up that money and going and buying ONE DECENT DOMAIN in the aftermarket. A name that IS worth something, or at least gets useable traffic.

All you're doing at the moment is keeping registrars in business and perpetuating the myth that stupid domains are actually worth more than $0.

Drewbert,

Great point!

First off, I don't own any of those domains that I listed above. They are available for registration.

What makes for a good domain in your opinion?

I believe that it doesn't matter what your domain name is, only what you do with it.

Really think hard about this for a second. Does yahoo mean anything to you? Imagine if yahoo.com was a pickle packing company. Would they be the as popular as they are now? Or imagine if amazon.com supplied Native Brazilian artifacts to museums.

Point is, the business is what counts and you make your name with your business.

You've gone and done it now Drewbert.. You've ruined all my hopes and dreams of cashing in the big bucks on the domains market. Here I was thinking they were worth $3, maybe $5 bucks, and then I read your post bringing nothing but talk of doom and gloom to this dream. I don't know what I'm going to do now.. I maxed out all my credit cards in the hope of the big return on a few domains, but as you put it, we've got it ALL WRONG. This is just damn depressing..

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>hotash.com = $320 but hot ash?<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

Hmm.. not sure really.. it expired and I thought it might sell for a few pennies more than I paid for it.. If not, I'll just use it as a new script testing ground..

Hotash short for Ashley Hot Ashley. You could get permision from a model to use her picture and charge $2.00 per minute to be able to talk to the so called Hot Ashley.

In fact I'll buy shagbiz.com and promote hotash from there and you can give me 25%
