For some reason some idiot has been whacking the ABW email server ... logs are being made and will be tracked - we have more than enough capacity to handle this piker :P The site might be a bot slower but I guarantee it (the postings server) will NOT go down, the two other servers might, but we'll be up

 It is so sad that some people are so miseraable within themselves that they must take pleasure in making others unhappy. I do not understand it. I guess, misery does love company and they are lonely and want to find surcease in making others miserable as they are. Or, I guess if they can distroy what their betters build they somehow feel that they are in some way superior to the builders. While everyone likes to see despots, liars, theives, cheats or overblown self serving idiots get their just comeuppance, attacking people who are doing a service for their fellows and the folks just trying to better themselves or those just trying to find a bit of pleasure is a shame and a disgrace. I would hope these people learn to use their talents in more positive ways so that they may earn the respect of others which is a great deal more satisfying. The Wolf Credo: Respect the elders. Two responses on majordomo a minute from the attacks since 4:30pm EST ... looks like a bandwidth hack to me -- nothing Malicious 'per se', just expensive.

If they want to practice attacking someone deserving of a DOS attack ...try the BHO and DoubleClick Ad servers. Sure would love to hear that eBates server gets brought to it's kness by Gator and WhenU while the phoney charity BHO's plug their own ID# into competing theftwarez applications via the open update backdoor.

I think there is need for serious penalties, under law, that hackers must face. I see it as no different than someone breaking into my home. If someone walks into my home, uninvited, they are not walking out. I feel as strong about hackers, as I do about the other scenario. They have no business in my 'home' (computer). If I walked in to my home, and found someone there, law permitting (and in my state it is) they would get shot, without questions being asked.

It seems to me the people who do these things would be much better off trying to make the Internet a better place for everyone. I guess they get their jollies making trouble, but it would be easy for them to be real heros by doing something really wonderful with the intelligence they obviously possess.

Hey Big Chuck. When you devise or find a anti-hacker- spammer -ActiveX backdoor downloader program that fries the perps server CPU let me know! I'll put up links all over my sites. Be nice to see some stories of how some 14 year old hacker/spammer gets wacked by a electrical charge equal to their stolen bandwidth usage. We can call it electric shock therapy for the more liberal minded.

We've had the same thing happen to all of our domains over the past couple of days. I've reported it to our hosting company. Additionally, the person is BCC him/herself at an aol e-mail address -- I was able to see the address using Mail Washer Pro. Gee, what should I do with the address...  Maria |

Unfortunately, step one seems to be one of the biggest source of internet criminals. Go to school. Get radicalized by a embittered old professor who is a failure in their personal life and hates the free market. Have kewl people show you how to download music and violate copyrights on KaZaA for free. Have kewl people show you how to view live porn on the Internet with a stolen credit. Become a hacker intent on harming others because you feel that you are somehow superior. After all, you now have legions of embittered professors and kewl people to back you up. sound thinking |

OH so true yintercept. Back in my day at U of M (the East coast Berkley) the professors and teaching fellows were so liberal they had the Black Panthers at their social gatherings, passing out LSD & joints while preaching socialism and anti-government retoric. I can only imagine what the liberal Univ. politics have evolved into these days.
