Phone Sales
I'm intrigued by the claim BC guarantee affiliates will be credited for phone sales. I find most online companies are loath to admit to affiliates that around 25% of their orders come over the phone. How does BC do it?

The method works, too.
I've seen quite a few phone order sales in my reports. I'm sure they don't capture all of them (customers may close the page and not remember the ref#), but I suspect most phone sales are indeed tracked ok. |

Backcountry has done a nice job setting this up. If only other AMs would take notice and follow suit...
Jim: how are you able to differentiate phone orders in your CJ reports? |

Thanks for everyone's input to help clarify how this works.
When you click through one of your Backcountry.com affiliate links, you should see a Ref # that appears in the upper right corner of every page during that session. You should recognize this Ref #…it is actually your PID. We have taken this step to give affiliates a piece of mind that we are tracking their referrals. It’s a very simple way to test your links once they are up. What is especially nice about this phone tracking process is that one of your site users could have clicked through to Backcountry.com weeks ago and had the cookie set. If your referral decided not to buy at that point, then they came back directly to Backcountry.com after a couple of weeks and made a purchase by phone, you would still get the sale. I hope this thread helped to clear things up.
