For GoodBulbs' inaugural coupon, I've got a heckuva deal. They're already a great value: 75 bulbs, in multiple varieties, all in one pack. These boxes are themed by color--all a person has to do to get an entire color-coordinated bulb garden is buy a box! The bulbs inside are either all one color, or are complimentary colors (depending on color theme chosen).
The coupon gives $5 off the already-low price of $24.95 for these boxes. This is a limited-time offer--it expires on July 14th. There will be no better offer on these this bulb-ordering season! Quick facts: Savings $5.00 Off of: Color-themed bulb packs Coupon Code: BOXSAVINGS Expires: 7/14/2005 Got banner? Yep! A 125x125 graphic box is in SAS in with the other banners. Deal in SAS's deal section? Yep! Here's a link to the category page: Color-themed bulb garden packs Sign up for the GoodBulbs affiliate program HERE

Well... by July 14th I probably still wont have any traffic, but if I did I would jump on it. Would offering a permanent coupon for first time buyers, say 5 bucks off (or 10%) be something that appeals to you? You would definitely get two extra spots on my site. One on my coupon page, listing codes, and in my home and garden section on my "Bargain Board".
Sounds like a good idea, I just don't have the traffic right now.

Sorry, no permanent coupons. I've found from tests that the most-effective coupons also create a sense of urgency--a "get it now or lose out" atmosphere. Places that run the same deal again and again soon lose that coupon-related sales pop.
I know such a short-term coupon won't help those who don't have traffic already, but the timing of this one has to do with my own ordering schedule. As for a first-time customer bonus, I'm very doubtful on that, even as a short run. I don't want to get the same thing going that cell phone companies have--people constantly switching companies just to get the new customer bonuses. Of course, my course of action there will take into account market conditions...but I won't be the "leader" in getting that business quagmire started in the bulb category.

makes sense. well, when I get some traffic... lol it's coming. I can at least find my site in Google and MSN, but not much with keywords, mostly domain related words and phrases - i.e., "lurkerssite.com bargain board"
I guess from a site that gets 10's of thousands of visits a day, or 1000s, I guess that short term coupon would definitely see some action.
