Your correct Leader in that my entire corporate carrier was involved in the sales side of the equation. The advertising side refuses to ever be tied directly into the ROI profit center concept....preferring to remain an expense category. The corporate sales side is tasked to pay all company bills from Ad expenses -salaries- to commissions and AP expenses.
Leader the affiliate reality is we will never ever be paid, by a network merchant, for any advertising expense we incur on their behalf. No sale or action =no payment. The merchant/network game is to entice affiliates to collectively spend millions per month on Ad space -hosting -PPCSE -e-mail fees -SEO & SEM without any guarantee they will earn 1 cent for the millions spent. Therefore only those who can manipulate (trick & cookie) traffic at the source, or attack at the Point of Sale, can tip the odds in their favor to afford advertising expenses. Those most adept at this can basically cherry pick all sales from those caught in the middle. This brings, with this current industry mindset, a guarantee that only the tricksters & POS attack dogs will earn the big bucks. Therefore in 2005 and now 2006 this industries advertising mindset guarantees the blackhat SEO/SEM players and well funded traffic manipulators or forced click BHO's will get 90% of the commission payouts. It's high time for monthly slotting fees for merchant showcase placements on proven legit affiliate domain pages.
