Geno - congratulations on Russia's success at Davis cup. (Alan smiles begrudgingly) OK, I admit it - you guys are good at something other than hockey!!

I've been somewhat surprised at just how well Russia has done in DC competition. But with a field of players that includes guys like Safin and Davydenko, I should not be surprised. It's also great to see your top rated singles players participating in DC.

The US. in recent times have not had all of their top tour players participate and that is unfortunate. In fact, if I recall correctly Pete Sampras never played on our DC team. At least Andy Roddick is playing....

I've written to the USTA and suggested that the U.S. offer Roger Federer a bizzilion dollars and immediate citizenship if he will play for the U.S., but so far no reply.

Alan

Alan
We'll probably wait til he's 40, has 2 bad knees, and married to Spice Girl like we did with D. Beckam.

Secondly, we already stole Kournikova and Sharapova, so our priorities are straight.

Seriously, I have some concerns with the current state of American tennis, but we tend to go through these cycles.

In the meantime, best of luck to Geno and the Russian Team...

You can keep Kournikova. She ain't worth anything tennis-wise.

Sharapova is a good one!! Keep her happy in America!

Yep - I've seen him many times. He's a competitive player, but when you have the current top 5 around, not much chance he'll break that ranking. Federer is just amazing, and he does it pretty much on his own without the entourage. Pretty darned great player. Good chance that if he sticks around a few more years, he'll earn the title of Best Ever.
