What's your preferred IM for contact?

Hi Everyone

I hope your all doing well this week

At buy.at we are a friendly bunch and like to keep close contact with everyone where its wanted.

With this in mind I wondered what peoples preferred IM solution was? so I can get set up and pop my details on the forum for those that want to use them

I have ICQ AIM and MSN Messenger set up right now - do people use these or are there others that would be good to get?

add Yahoo and Skype and you've pretty much covered all your bases.
I use Trillian (Free Version) to manager AIM/ICQ/Yahoo/MSN and Skype for skype.

Miranda IM is another option.

Definitely Yahoo and Skype. Your affiliate managers will need accounts at all the major IM services. I dislike AOL IM intensely, with MSN a close second and prefer to use Yahoo and Skype with my affiliates for a variety of reasons. One thing to keep in mind with Trillian and other aggregators is that sometimes the ability to send files is limited. With Skype you have the ability to transfer files and grab a headset and place a free Skype to Skype voice call if texting isn't efficient for the conversation

We use Trillian in the office and have our entire staff using it as it makes it easier when we communicate, although it's funny and we joke about it from time to time that our offices are 5-7 feet away and and we still communicate with IM. LOL

But which clients do you use with Miranda? The software that brings all the ims together "under one roof" is fine, but you still need accounts with the underlying clients.

I use almost all of them but Skype is my favorite. It seems like I am always talking to am's on the skype phone. (good way to get commision upgrades)

Well then I am definitely getting Skype then :-)

Looks like with the spread of preference I'm going to need them all - I think it’s important as we grow the business that anyone making or trying to make money with us and our merchants should be able to get hold of me directly. It's something we have always encouraged in the UK and although it can get busy sometimes we are being paid well to be available so we should be just that.

The ones on my Miranda are MSN, Jabber, ICQ, IRC, and Aim.
I think I created accounts with the above "clients" of Miranda but I haven't used IM in years.

I use everything except Skype

It's a bit of a memory hog, so I don't like to keep it open. Plus I'd rather chat through text than voice. My client of choice is Adium.

i have no luck to install and use all other integrated clients, except setting up and use Trillian.

But now i don't need Trillian as i just use msn and Skype chat mode

You can use Gizmo to chat with MSN, Yahoo and Gtalk users (through Jabber).

Actually MSN client can talk to Yahoo and Yahoo can talk to MSN likewise now.

In Windows XP version 8.1, you can add a yahoo id.

Right under the "Instant Messenging Address" field in the Add a Contact box, there are two examples: example@live.com, example@yahoo.com
