Curious, considering who I just became friends with on Facebook. (Although not a member of this case... you know what they say, keep your friends close....)

This is a great victory, even if the damages aren't collected.

From the article:

"MySpace has another anti-spam case pending against a high-profile defendant, Scott Richter, who it claims gained access to MySpace profiles using stolen passwords and then sent spam bulletins from those accounts."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Richter
From that page:

In January 2007, his company Media Breakaway was sued by popular social networking website MySpace for allegedly gaining access to members' accounts and using them to send millions of spam messages appearing to be from users' MySpace "friends".[3]. Steven Richter, President and General Counsel of the company, denied the allegations.

Might have to move this to the legal thread...

...but do you think that MySpace will get a CAN-SPAM based ruling against Richter for bulletin board spamming? That seems to be outside of the purview of CAN-SPAM, right?

It's also interesting that MySpace won a CAN-SPAM case when they weren't the ones being spammed.
