To my experience, 4% is quite an O.K. number for a commission to the sales channel within Computer/Electronics category.

I have recently noticed that Office Depot family of computer/electronics sites are increasing to 3% standard + tiered commission level. There are already Tiger Competitors offering 4%, 5% and up to 10% in these categories. Well all the good little Yahoo stores are willingly giving me 6%.

2% won't cut it unless you convert 20% of the clicks.

If Tiger won't make a move, I'll go work against you guys.

Blues, Blues, Blues,

We are on a tiered compensation plan. The producers, the ones that don't complain about the 2% are already at 4%.

Here on ABW, there are a few partners on 4% - you didn't know that?

How do you get there you say?

ahhh, they earn it! Hard work helps. Enthusiasm works wonders! Demonstrating interest in our program works too. In fact i've been know to give extra bonuses now and then, I've also thrown in a few prizes here and there, just yesterday we sent a brand new iPaq to one of our top partners....

I can tell you that whomever is giving you 6% either are selling too expensive or won't be around for long.

Regardless of any of that, "going against us guys" will surely keep you at 2% because you won't have any sales volume.

Blues, why don't you let me work with you? Show me some interest and effort on your part and let me worry about keeping your wallet fat....

Have a great day....

>We are on a tiered compensation plan. The producers, the ones that don't complain about the 2% are already at 4%.

I am not complaining about 2%. You should be complaining that many of your affiliates are not generating any sales. Why? Because they have better alternatives. I generate quite a load of sales for ETRONICS (in electronics) and for Computers4Sure and for some little Yahoo stores. I have a great enthusiasm for selling about ANYTHING! I am selling a few computers a day from Dell and even from Overstock.com!

Your prices are not as competitive as you say they are. I mean other than the never-ending specials, products that, basically, MUST GO to Customer or WILL go to Dumpster. You will sell Catch-A-Call for $49.99 while it is $39.99 at PC Mall, I switched this link to PC Mall yesterday and within 36 hours, I already sold 8 of them. For the past 2 months, I have not sold a single one through the Tiger link. Guess why?

>Here on ABW, there are a few partners on 4% - you didn't know that?

That's not an incentive for me to sell for you. You must understand that you are competing with other merchants, affiliates at large, will sell for others if they do not see you initiating the contact and incentivizing the affiliate. There may be a few affiliates at ABW at 4%, what does that mean and where does it take this subject to? Nowhere. Offer 4% standard, you'll see hundreds of more active salesmen!

>ahhh, they earn it! Hard work helps. Enthusiasm works wonders! Demonstrating interest in our program works too.

Yes, definately. I have a great enthusiasm. I sell many different things and I promote them with such an enthusiasm. As long as I am guaranteed to make a certain minimum, I won't lose my enthusiasm. I, too, earn it, just not from you.

>In fact i've been know to give extra bonuses now and then, I've also thrown in a few prizes here and there, just yesterday we sent a brand new iPaq to one of our top partners....

That's a good thing, I give you a high-five for that, but that's not what we are discussing.

>I can tell you that whomever is giving you 6% either are selling too expensive or won't be around for long.

Umm.. not really... They have comparable cases and barebones priced lower than your regular priced barebones and combos. Many specialty parts and accessories are also priced lower than Tiger. Come on, margin in accessories are much higher than the margin in CPUs and Motherboards.

>Regardless of any of that, "going against us guys" will surely keep you at 2% because you won't have any sales volume.

That's the logical conclusion. That's likely to happen.

>Blues, why don't you let me work with you? Show me some interest and effort on your part and let me worry about keeping your wallet fat....

I have interest. You are making $25 on this "Catch-A-Call" thing. Yet you refuse to give me $2 per item sold, yet I can not sell it at that price anyways. When you move your base level up to 4%, I will show my enthusiasm to you by digging into your inventory to find things that I can sell, and SELL them.

>Have a great day....

You too Andy. It is hot and humid here, but the day is great. Howz it down south?

Blues,

We have 125 affiliates getting a check this month. I went to your site again, if you don't bury us where no one can see us, maybe you will close more sales. Really, you have changed your site quite a bit. Where are the product pages? You converted it to a coupon site?

You used to have product images on there....i love the "computer deals links", the way you have that index is nice but don't bury it.....

I bet you anything if you link your computer deals page with the left hand section under computers you will do much better.

I can tell you for a fact, those full page creatives you have on there rock ! You need to add traffic to them. Many affiliates here have the same creatives, i'm doing checks today, you should sit from where i'm sitting.....those full pages kick some butt......

Andy, that's a shame, if anything. I am getting checks from more than 125 merchants every month and NOT one from Tiger!

>I went to your site again, if you don't bury us where no one can see us, maybe you will close more sales. Really, you have changed your site quite a bit. Where are the product pages? You converted it to a coupon site?

Well coupon site? Not exactly, but coupons took a better placement on the main page - and only on the main page -. We have 20,000 individual product links, showcased within individually promoted pages. We add 150 more everyday, we will be utilizing product data feeds very soon. There are quite a few merchants that we make up a good percentage of their total affiliate sales (yeah, ZAPPOS is one of them! )

>You used to have product images on there....i love the "computer deals links", the way you have that index is nice but don't bury it.....

It is not buried at all. Linked directly from the main page! There is also a store showcase for Tiger that we gave up updating.

>I bet you anything if you link your computer deals page with the left hand section under computers you will do much better.

I agree. I'll think about it.

>I can tell you for a fact, those full page creatives you have on there rock ! You need to add traffic to them. Many affiliates here have the same creatives, i'm doing checks today, you should sit from where i'm sitting.....those full pages kick some butt......

Well, I would add a lot of traffic to them if I am convinced that I'll make money. Right now, I am not convinced, I do not add any more of tiger direct product links to other showcases, and if it gets any direct traffic from search engines, that'll be it. I do agree that your guys are making these one-page creatives very aggressive. Thanks and thumbs up for that. I'm glad that it works well for 125 of your affiliates.

Ah I so hope it does cool off. My gardens are in serious need of weeding and there is no way I'm leaving my A/C home to do it

Tomorrow should be the hottest at 88 and then it will be like 84 to 86.

Ah Canada. I used to take a vacation in Quebec or the Maritimes every summer. One year I did a solo bike trip around the Gaspe Peninisula in June/July and it was wonderful. The Gaspesie in P.Q. and Grand Manaan in the Fundy Isles (N.B.) are my favorite spots. The public campground in Grand Manaan is over-run with various breeds of domestic rabbits turned feral and it's hysterical.

Hot a heck here on Long Island also! We have an above ground pool and the water temp is 89 degrees! But after working all day in a hot store it felt good jumping in.
Keep Cool!
