Found a pretty neat view of the internet through Chris Anderson's blog. Definitely worth checking out.

On one level, it's pretty idealistic, but on the other, it just makes you feel good.

That was awesome.
I think that often, people overstate the value of particular websites, or even groups/types of sites. But when they are shown in interaction, and it's noted how they will effect the way we and our children will interact (sometimes without even knowing it!) in the future, they DO seem to hold more value.
And how quickly the future tends to be upon us these days. And the conveniences and problems that will come with it
I just read the post that preceded that video... He recalls Negrponte, who I remember reading right after college... Negroponte says THIS in 1994:

Finally, the 3.1 million camcorders sold in the US last year cannot be ignored. If the broadcast model is colliding with the Internet model, as I firmly believe it is, then each person can be an unlicensed TV station. Yes, Mr. Vice President, this is what you said in LA. Even before we understand how the Internet will function as a commercial enterprise, we must reckon with uncountable hours of video.

He nailed YouTube 10 years before it got here...

Very very cool. The best explanation for what's been going on in Internet news in the last couple years I've seen yet.
