I put up a Web site, mostly for practice and first-hand research. An executive producer came across it and, as they say, the rest is history.

Cool, congrats. I'm just trying to pick up some pointers since i have less than 7 months before the xmas shopping season starts and i'm on a mission to get Oprah to link me or mention my site on her show
So far just had 1 local channel do a story on my site but looking to do better this year.

Karl;
Be sure to video tape the spot. Convert it to an avi or mpeg and put a link to it on your website. You will have a great "up close and personal" commercial and may be able to capitalize on that "5 minutes of fame" for a long time.

My site was on the front page of CNN, and made the news ticker twice. I hated every minute of it! 40,000 unique visitors in 10 minutes crashed the server, my host freaked out and deleted my site, my only backup was 3 months old. It took a week before the host put my site up... UGH! I hope you are ready for the traffic!

How'd it go? I'm  tonite after checking my logs. Just got my 2nd local television station to do a story on my site. Staying up tonite just watching the traffic come in, didn't think so much would come from local TV. Hopefully national by xmas

Well, I'm in the UK so Time Zone differences can be a killer. Plus it was a completely new site which hadn't been around before so I was hardly going to be authoritive.
