I had been doing this affiliate "stuff" for about five years before I was aware of ABW. What I have learned here has certainly helped me grow my business in the direction in which I decided to diversify.

March of 2003 if I recall correctly.... And well below for my first 10,000. In fact, I think it was sadly right after I spent $64 on "get e store"... LOL

I joined because David Cusimano had his support forum here. I lurked for months before I signed up because I was intimidated I finally had a question I couldn't find the answer to and had to sign up and ask it.

Searching "all posts by this user" shows this as my first post. But it is incorrect, because I *know* I was on ABestWeb when I lived in NYC, and I left there in June 2003. The reason I know is that over the winter of 2001/2002 I took the Long Island Railroad to Hoftra from Penn Station frequently and I knew that Haiko was in someplace called Jamaica and when the conductor would announce Jamaica Station, I would think to myself "I know someone that lives near here". I now know it's a different place, but anyway that's how I know I was here before 2003

Silly question. Kinda like which came first ... the Parrot or the egg? Of course I was assuming the 10,000 was referring to the number of post you've made. I think Charlie joined before me...

My first post was in August 2002. I lurked for a while prior to that though. I doubt I had made $10K (total) at that point in time.

Yeah, Deb, can you believe it's been five years since I finally got the nerve to post here? Probably closer to six since I registered. (Sandra 1 and Sandra 2 scared the crap out of me.)

Sandra 1 got herself banned from ABW a few years ago.

Sandra 2 is still around but she claims to be retired. If you holler for her really loud she might just stop gardening long enough to shush your ass.

I know I don't post much, but read everyday, I remember even before Abestweb started up, the old CJU boards were where some of the oldtimers hung around, that got closed down, ABW was born, and I followed, actually followed Leader over from the old CJU boards to here, and been hanging around ever since making a few bucks..

Like JustDoIt alluded, I joined right near the beginning, and got active after CJU's board closed.

$10k? Back then I thought $1k/mo was tremendous!

I think I joined ABW moments after returning home from Affiliate Summit East '07. I had been at the affiliate thing for a year and was making a decent full-time salary. That means I'm still new and still scared to post, even if the Sandras are gone. lol

I joined in early 2002. At the time I thought I was King Sh#t because I had 11 whole pages on my site and planned to add a new page each week. The site sucked.

My head spun when I saw people talking about making like $700 a month, and Mike talking about having a 600 page website.

I am still a very small fish in the affiliate game, but now I laugh at $700 per month, and I laugh at Mike's site

I joined in 2003, back when plain webmerge feed sites did quite well. Unfortunately, and perhaps justly, I saw my earnings decimated when G decided that enough was enough.

Many of the affiliate marketers I knew early on have either left the game or are no longer frequenting the boards, and this makes me sad, but I still haunt this place to listen and learn.

I appreciate the new palyers who have taken up the slack and freely share their knowledge and wisdom.

I especially enjoy the content is king debates and will probably go in this direction when I take a new run at it.

Wish me luck. :P

I've been online since '93, making websites since '94-'95, and affiliate marketing in some form or another part-time since about '98-'99. I didn't join ABW til mid to late 2004 (yes, I remember InfoPop, ugh), tho' I didn't post for quite a while.

I just went back through my stats to figure out if I joined before my first $10k or after. It was definitely before, but it was interesting to see how my income took off after I started participating at ABW. Coinkydink? I think not....

"How long" questions are tough ones. I think I lurked about 2 years before ever posting. Maybe..hmmmm.. 4 years??? Time flys!
