In a private AM group the question has come up if WhenU is now considered not to be a parasite. They have a PR campaign centered around being certified by TRUSTe's Trusted Download Program. They have even gotten their listing in Wikipedia updated to reflect this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WhenU

What has changed?? Is this just spin like 180solutions/Zango constantly does??

Wikipedia is asking for our unbiased help in that matter.

I'll ask 3 questions as a response:

1. What does it mean to be a parasite?
2. Is part of TRUSTe's certification criteria whether or not software is a parasite?
3. Is WhenU still a contextual adware application that automatically runs on the end user's computer?

It's been my own personal experience that people who want to believe spin, do. If there are Managers who are looking for an excuse to be able to partner with WhenU, they should just go ahead and partner with them and accept the consequences one way or another. But cannibalism isn't particularly healthy, especially when feeding on one's self.

Kellie, my thoughts exactly. I am not interested and have cautioned AM's that if they partner with WhenU then they will have to answer to their affiliates. If they don't care then they should go ahead!
